With a little bit of care, knowledge, and experience you can use your car, its accessories, and the gizmos you use in it much better than most others. See, all you need for this are some tools and a checklist of sorts.
Using both of these along with some knowledge that you get here, you can keep an eye over the common trouble points that occur in your car and take repair action immediately before issues become really serious. So, here we go into the nitty gritty of it.
A common sore point that you rue is that sometimes your cell phone will not get charged using the car charger during one of your long distance travels in your otherwise reliable vehicle. Or just when you try to light up your cigarette using the car lighter you find that the darn thing simply fails to work. Sometimes your car GPS (global positioning system) display simply blinks out. So, what do you do at such critical moments?
The solution to such inconveniencing occurrences is to use what is known in geek parlance as a circuit tester. See, all these power consuming gizmos that you use through the accessory power socket in your car source the life giving juice from your car's 12-volt battery.
The most often simple thing that you may have forgot to take into consideration is that the car ignition may be in the off position. So, rule that out by ensuring it is in the on position before you use the circuit tester's two leads to check what prevents the devices you use in your car from being powered up.
Stick their two pointed ends separately one each into the two socket holes all the way in so that they touch the power points of the socket. If the test lamp of your circuit tester does not light up the culprit is surely a blown fuse. Simply replace the faulty fuse with a new one in the car fuse box and you are done.
The color of the smoke that comes out from your car's exhaust pipe is an important indication of the condition of your car engine. If the smoke is blue or gray even in warm engine condition then it means that the piston rings, valve seals, or valve guides are worn.
White colored exhaust gas is normal in winter during cold starts. However, in warm conditions it is either an indication of wearing of cylinder gaskets, cracking of the cylinder block or even engine block or transmission fluid leakage into the intake manifold through the vacuum modulator.
If the exhaust smoke is however black in color, what it means is that the gas is incompletely burning in the engine and because of which the exhaust pipe internal surface is choked with carbon deposit. The only thing to do in all such cases is to take your car to the nearest authorized service center.
Your car battery needs a periodic dose of distilled water to help it power start your beloved car. You need to get your car battery checked every three months or so for the distilled water level in it. So, do not forget to get that check done at your nearest car battery service center.
