Grimy windows, mirrors and headlights of a dirty car do not give you a clear view of the road and lower your safety. Moreover, road salt, chemicals, dirt and slush can eat away your vehicle's paint, metal and chrome. Therefore, it is important to properly wash your car regularly. Following are some helpful steps to make your car look impeccably clean.

* Select a shady area, preferably not having any trees that may drip sap or drop leaves to park your car.
* Close all the doors and windows of the vehicle.
* Wash down the wheels with a hosepipe, one wheel at a time. First hose the wheel and then put a wheel cleaner on both, the wheel and the rim. Remove the dirt on the wheel by a brush scrub. Then rinse it and proceed to clean the next wheel.
* Rinse the excessive dirt off the surface of car, starting from the roof and going downward to the tires.
* Put one capful of car soap into a bucket and fill it 3/4 of the way with warm water.
* Lather a cloth rag or sponge in the bucket containing soapy water and use it to rub the roof through straight strokes from the middle to the outer edges. Do not rub the car surface through a circular motion. Rinse off leftover soap after the roof is cleaned.
* After that, clean the sides in the manner described above, by rubbing the car surface in straight lines from the top edges to the bottom. Rinse the cloth rag or sponge frequently to remove soaked dirt.
* One you have cleaned and rinsed the sides, scrub and rinse the bonnet and the back. Clean the bumpers and fenders carefully and minutely, as bugs accumulate in these areas.
* Rinse off your car one final time with the hosepipe to remove any spots left while cleaning.
* Now dry the car surface thoroughly by placing a towel or chamois leather against it and moving it to remove the water spots. Begin with the roof and move down through the sides to the tires.
* Clean the windows by wiping them with a rag dripping wet with plain water. Dry them by using a dry rag or pieces of balled-up newspaper and window cleaner.
* If any metal part of the car has leftover water spots give it an additional rubdown.
* Now, wax your car after it dries out completely. Wax your car 3 to 4 times a year to maintain its shiny surface.

Always remember that if you pay proper attention to cleaning your car, it will give you great driving pleasure. Also, caring for your car will increase its resale value manifold.
