Saving fuel for your car means saving on its running cost directly. Advertisements of the fuel efficiency of higher octane fuel for your car may tend to sway your mind but it is more of a marketing gimmick.
The much higher cost of the higher octane fuel does not proportionally increase the fuel efficiency of your car. You need to fill only the lowest octane rating fuel in your car that is appropriate for it. You can go through the user manual for your car and it will clearly specify the relevant details.
After tanking up gas each time in your car, it will serve to save fuel for your car if you remember to properly tighten the fuel cap on the gasoline tank in your car. Otherwise, more gas will escape by evaporation and you will wonder why the actual figure of average miles per gallon travelled by your car is less than what it should be.
